This is a thankless task - I have just been through the process of giving
up 5 whole nights of my precious (to me anyway) spare time on a committee
examining the many species of ornamental fish that somehow have become
available to the trade and hobby in the state of Queensland. After
selecting out theose that were native, those that were already on a Noxious
Fish list, and those that were already on the "allowed" Commonwealth
Schedule 6 we still had to try to classify several hundred species as to
their suitability from a hobby/commercial/environmental viewpoint just as a
starting point. There were several species that even the basic info such as
mature size attained was hard to find.Then there is the problem of
consensus between the various interests represented on the committee.
Finally when we got to the meeting the chairman of the committee pulled the
pin and announced that he would not allow the list to be presented until we
had another meeting - the agenda of which was to be announced. I think I
may have to save my time for something less angst generating like this list
;-)
