No - this is a funny story. When I founded the IRG I had prepared some papers
and proposed the name "Internationale Regenbogenfisch-Gesellschaft" for
the new society, shortly IRG. However, the foundation members decided to
give the name as "Internationale Gesellschaft für Regenbogenfische", which
would have been IGR. However, they voted for IRG as the short name!
Translated it should be International Association (or Society) for
Rainbowfishes, and shortened it internationally is IRG. Hope that explains it.
