And to put Roy out of his misery, the Macquarie Dictionary defines Bunyip
as " an imaginary creature of Aboriginal legend, said to haunt rushy swamps
and billabongs".
Apparently usually seen after inhaling or imbibing too much of various
volatile substances by the fireside whilst camping on collecting trips. I
feel that this may have led to the corruption of the word Billabong to the
abhorrent current "bring your bongalong" and the questioning version "
didjabringyabongalong?" :-)
Personally I prefer the aromatic warmth of a litre or two of Green Ginger
wine - But then Adrian Tappin has his own version of lubricant termed
"Fraser Island Tea".
