The main purpose in aquaculture is to grow a fish to table size as quick as
you can at the cheapest cost and that's the reason they feed a lot of
Carbohydrates (usually from grain or soya bean) as Carbos are much cheaper
than protein sources.
I have been told that a "so far" unpublished research report will show that
rainbowfishes consume greater quanities of terrestrial insects than any
other food item.
