Just for all those Qlders who complain about how cold Melbourne always it,
>From The Age newspaper,
"For most of last week, Melbourne had the dubious honor of being among
the hottest cities in the world. On Wednesday, when Melbourne
experienced 40.9 degrees, the nearest recorded capital city temperature
was Bangkok which registered 35 degrees."
Mind you, Phoenix is typically hotter than 38oC (100oF) for over two
months of the year. Last year only peaked at ~116oF or 48oC! Mind you,
that is not as bad as driving through Death Valley without air
conditioning when it was 123oF or 53oC! We actually had to wind the
windows most of the way up to keep the oven like wind off our skin!
Spray bottles are worth big bucks on days like that!
Since I am on about heat how about a little fish trivia. What is the
hottest temperature that any fish has been found at in Australia and in
the world? And no, it is not that sicklid in Africa (T. grahami or what
ever it is called these days [subspecies I think]). I know what the
answer is, I just want to see what other people thing it is. :-)
