Dear Mr. Hunter,
I received your postcard. Thak you very much for your friendly
congratulations. I know about you and ANGFA of North America from article
of ANGFA Bulletin No. 28 and I know that you is member of IRG from IRG
membership roll'96. We are very glad the new friends and greet on behalf of
Russian Regional group!
RRG organized 4 years ago on Ron Bowman, ANGFA National active and my
initiatives. Fishes of Australia and New Guinea and information about them
very rare was always, but is great interest to them. That impelled me wrote
the first letter to ANGFA. I read about association in TFH Magazine vol 32
No.5.
At that time in the Soviet Union, today in Russia too this Magazine having
three librarys and only one sending per inter-library loan system. This
number I received by mistake instead of vol.31 no.8 with articles
"Taterundina ocellicauda, the peacock Gudgeon an aquarium novelty" and
"spawning the Peacock Gudgeon".
Therefore to unite of enthusiasts, informational supporting and
popularization of aquarium had founded RRG. Group have 14 members from six
towns and childeren from club. We have in our small library "fishes of
Sahul" "Angfa Bulletin" and ANGFA ACT newsletters from Australia,
"rainbowfish" from my friend Harro Heironimus from Germany, TFH vols 39 and
40 from Dr Herbert Axelrod. Besides in library 4 issues FAMA '88 and 1
"DATZ" sended by Vanni Balma from Italy and new book by Dr. Gerald Allen,
three volumes "aquarium a Terrarium" from Czechoslovakia and collection
Russian books and magazines. I did translations of articles on russian,
compiled a list of species about which we are having information, printing
on my home made computer made myself from chips on 8 bit 10mHz 8080
processor like base this is even not 286... and sending articles to our
members by orders.
On regular meetings are held on the first Monday of each month we are
exchanging pratical experence and fishes. Collection of fishes our members
is small to greatest unfortunately. We have M. boesmani, M. trifasciata, M.
Maccullochi, M. irianjaya, G. incicus, I. werneri, P. furcatus, C. bleheri.
Its all about RRG in brief. We to be glad contacting with North American
Group and you in later on.
Happy fishwatching!

I thought that was pretty cool of old Sergy to drop us a line. It is word
for word as he wrote it and no he is not a graduate of royboybonics! :-)
I think I am going to try and chase up a few things to send him to add to
his library. If any of you would like to donate some past issues of mag's
send them to me and I will send them to him. I bet he sure would like a
copy of Freshwater Fishes of Australia and the New Guinea one as well.
Maybe ANGFA national would like to donate these to his library. I know it
sure would make him a happy boy. Man an 8080 based computer... now that
takes me back......
Cheers
