I was talking habitat conditions. Some springs have (or had) larger
populations than others. I remember the first time I visited pool 3,
there were a lot of fish to be found. Using two 25cm aquarium nets
brought together over about a 1.5 m length yielded around 150 redfins.
That's probably half the population of what resides there now due to
damnbusia! Pool three is one of the ones that has some slightly deeper
areas. Redfins do fine in the really shallow springs, but not as good as
they did in pool 3.
