Hi Danny,

That dose should kill all the snails as well. The only thing is, I don't know whether it will kill the snail eggs. Actually, I don't know whether any medication will kill snail eggs?

You want Botia to eat snails. I too have a trio of Botia striata (loaches), they are really beautiful fish, fun to watch, totally peaceful, and they do eat snails, however maybe not as effectively as puffers. But puffers sometimes damage plants when they pick up snails from them, because one of their techniques is to bite the snail through the leaf. Also, sometimes they would just bite off the head of the snail, and the rest is left to rot in the tank, whereas Botia suck the snail out of the shell. And many puffers are very aggressive.

Bedotia are very nice fish too, but they are the Madagascar rainbowfish and don't eat snails.

By the way, if anyone on the list is interested, I could send out a PDF of an article that I wrote recently with Alex Saunders on these fish. We look at 20 different Bedotia, both described and undescribed species, and there are lots of pics, too. It was published in Aqua in late 2004.

Cheers

Christophe

Thank you. Unfortunately the freswater puffer option isn't easy in
Australia for some reason. I am looking more for the super fast fix
as I only have the weekend available to get those sorts of jobs done.
What dose of levamisole is recommended. I use it very effectively at
3 mg/litre water for camallanus. It is available at the local produve
here in Australia whereas Flubenole has been off the market here for
7-8 years as it is no longer an effective shhep wormer over here.
Where they Botia or Bedotia ??.

Thanks, Danny
