You can get both drugs in the US, but not over the counter. If you find you
need them you have to see a veterinarian to get them I believe... at least
that is how I got mine.

Personally I like the puffer approach or Botia control. No drugs and cool
fish to watch. Don't limit yourself to clown loaches, as all Botias like to
crunch on smails. My favorites are the Zebra Botia (B. striata), and they
are one of the most peaceful. Also, Botias are schoolers. One will be lonely
and bored, at least while young.

The puffers should do the best job. You can use one of any of the common
varieties (check water parameters, as they are often sold as brackish fish)
or you can get a small group of Pea Puffers. These stay really small (1 inch
or so) and are just the coolest! They will nip fins, but in a larger tank
with lots of swimming space, you can even keep them in with many species of
bows... just make sure the bows have room to get away from any puffer
aggression attempts. Bows are pretty fast swimmers, so with lots of space to
maneuver, they really shouldn't be bothered once the Pea Puffers learn they
can't catch them. ;-)

You can also use Flubendazole (contained in Flubenol 5%), whi= ch will also kill skin and gill flukes, or Levamisol (contained in Con= curat-L). Incidentally, Levamisol is also the only medication which effecti= vely destroys Camallanus. Apparently, fish become temporarily sterile when = Flubenol is applied, but after a few months they are fertile again. I don't= know whether you will get these medications in the USA, though.
