Hi Ken and All,

Being an "old-timer" on this list, I would like to put in a couple of
pennies here...

This list has traditionally been a pretty laid-back and open kind of forum.
No strict rules as long as we are all polite to one another. A group of
friends chatting more than anything, mainly about fish but not always.

Yes, we are mainly a rainbowfish list, with Oz/NG fishes and other related
issues thrown in, too. But over the years we have also traded jokes and puns
(thanks to the good Doctor) and the odd off-topic bits of this and that, and
everyone has always been cool with it.

One of the reasons I have stayed on this list for so many years is because,
unlike so many other lists with strict policies and uptight members, this
has been a fun and friendly place to chat with no fear of someone getting
all "uppity" because you strayed on the odd post.

This all being said, please note this is not directed at any ONE individual
on this list, nor even because there is an immediate need. I just figured I
would put this forth BEFORE we got too far into this whole subject of what
is/is not appropriate for this list. If anyone is considering taking
offense, please don't. :-) My comments are meant as my own opion and in no
way meant to upset anyone. :-) That would not be in the spirit of this
list, after all.

I hope in future that we can keep this a place that is laid back and
friendly and not turn it into some rigid, strictly-run place that is "all
fish all the time." There are already a thousand of those out there. Let's
keep this place just the way it is, and not get too crazy with the whole
control aspect.

I agree we need to consider how long we stray from the aquatic reasons we
are here, but we are also here because we are a community of friends. I also
agree that we need to keep our opinions as just that: OUR opinions. No
ramming stuff down others' throats if we all can help it. I am all for a
mainly fish-based list, just not so rigid that we can't share other ideas.
:-)

Thanks all! Off the soap box for now... And as I said, at least THIS topic
got some response. No one had posted much for awhile, so it was refreshing.
:-) Even so it has been awile since I saw any of most of the faces here.
Hope you are all well and still kicking.
