perhaps the fry of P. inconspicuus are mixed with P. cyanodorsalis but
whenever I have raised wild caught fry there have never been any of the
former nixed in with them. I know that P. inconspicuus need better water
quality and probably are less tolerant to fresh water. Maybe there was the
two types of fry initially and the P. inconspicuus didn't get the water
quality they require and died.
I have found another patch of P. inconspicuus much more accessible than
Woods inlet and have organised to borrow a boat for the next time you come
here for some collecting. The area is in a creek that runs into the middle
arm of Darwin harbour. Unlike the P. inconspicuus at Woods Inlet these
are easy to find and were collected at night with a spotlight. They don't
handle well on capture and need some of those Hansen magic potions to keep
them going.
