Yes but the only time I have ever succeeded was in an attempt at mosquito
control. I had an old bath tub full of water for our horses to drink from
and was getting heaps of mosquito wrigglers. I tossed a couple of empires in
and forgot about them. About six months later I had over 100 small H.
compressa in the tub. The water was usually green except when it was brown.
There were no fixed plants but a bit of horse shit would have been flicked
in every now and then. Probably not an ideal way to run an aquarium.
