Rhonda,

Vegemite is to Australians a bit like Maple Surple and Jello is to
Americans - you either hate it or you love it. It is a sticky black
evil-looking (and evil-tasting to some ) spread that generations of
Australian kids have-experienced on their lunches. From memory it is a
yeast extract and tastes sharp and salty. Most newbies try to put it on too
thick and get repulsed - most will agree it is an aquired taste.

Always have plenty of butter and ot contrasts nicely with fresh crusty
bread and many like it as an accompaniment with cheese. Another favourite
way is melted into hot buttered toast.

Try some - you'll be glad you did, even if you don't like the first
impression ( some say a bit like sex - you just keep going back for more to
see what it is that everyone keeps talking about ;) )

Cheers

Bruce Hansen
