Colour is not a good indicator of sex. At sexual maturity (about 35 mm) the
males will have proportionately larger pectoral and pelvic fins - and at
breeding condition the male will have more nuptual tubercles than the
female. Ray Leggett wrote an article on beeding them in one of the early
FOS issues. Keep them cool and when you want them to breed raise the temp
to 15 C ( presupposing you have a pair - but with Hunter's luck you
couldn't miss) ;-)
They are supposed to get to 100 mm but 60 -- 70 is common here. I still
have about 30 of them buzzing around the tub.
