I was interested in opinions of the paper written by GP Semple (Aust. J. Mar.
Freshwater Res 1991 277-86. He felt that temperatures of 28 C induced spawning
and was his "critical temperature". Hatching took 112-190 hrs at 25-27
degrees. He noted that "algae growing on the chorion caused variable mortality
over the temperature range 26-34 C. Below 23 C mortality was total." He also
has some neat drawings of egg and fry formation so it might be a paper that you
want to check out.

I have always found Honey Blue-eyes do better in water conditions similiar
to that described above! They might be found in soft, acidic water but I
believe it is not their preferred conditions. I have regularly bred them at
pH 7.8 hardness 210 ppm.(one for the purists to argue about)
