Indeed there were some Zenarchopterus here in Germany.
They were offered under the name Z. novaeguineae.
I tried to identify them and found, that this couldn't be
the real name. If you look into Jerry's NG field guide
you'll see the difference. The most similar one was Z.
dunckeri which it should be.

There were no large efforts with the fish. It seemed rather
easy to keep 'em alive, however, after three to six months
all died. I didn't try spawning them and haven't also read
here about it. It should be described in the Riehl/Baensch Vol. 4
together with a photo.

--------BRUCE WROTE:

Hello all (and twice to you Chris),

I would like to address an appeal especially to our European listmembers
for any information on the fish of this Genus , especially information on
breeding and keeping under aquarium conditions. Our last trip to Cape York
resulted in 6 live specimens (out of 8 sent) arriving in Brisbane, one has
since departed but they have proved to be quite hardy and quiet as well as
peaceful. Brett Herbert identified them as Z. novae-guineae.

I understand Z. ?dunckeri was kept and bred in Europe for some time.
