Brighten them up - Astaxanthin in the feed, mix nature rose (brineshrimpdirect.com and Jehmco sells it) or feed 100 % live, daphnia, mosy larvae. Astaxanthin colors up our indoor fish more like the way you see small wild fish, and sometimes even more so. The results are remarkable and it's a natural product so you aren't messing with the fish like they do with some of the steroids etc.

Hi. I fully agree on what you said in your statement.I should
have ben more precise in my statement Eileens question was what was
the max. size for prae. and boes. and i gave my fish size. I should
have said the average size is around 2.5 in. Mine are probably
exceptional because of their diet for egg production. When i said 3-4
in. i was generalizing. I have never sen a praecox at 4 in.either.It
would be a fantastic fish though.
Except for my breeders I fed heavy for the first 2 months or
so and taper off to regular feeding 1-2 times a day since it would
be too expensive(since they eat like pigs)
I never have ben able to get my boes. to color up at 1 1/2
in. only a trace of color. Whats the secret? Ive had both color
var.syellow and orange/red but still no real color at a sm. size.
Im sorry that I gave the impression that i had 4 in.
praecoxbut i do have many 3 inchers though.5 in. boes. i still by
that size.

Regards

Hank
