Give them water, heat it to about 26oC (80oF), keep your water clean and they
will do fine. For most Australian species specific water conditions are not
critical as over the course of a year conditions at any given location can
change radically from very soft and acidic (from tanins, not fish poo) to
harder and alkaline. If you want eggs keep them over pH 7, if you want
brighter colours add something that will leach tanic acid and let the pH drop.
Although if you don't have the lighting right it will make little difference.
