After being descriptive while trying to make a point it would appear that I
have touched a nerve amongst some of the list members. Heres my explanation:
I think I intended this to be taken in two ways, 1) the pictures of Natives
are generally of a particular fish being shown in its optimum state, ie it
is not necaserraly the case that if you buy this particular fish it may not
look like this picture all of the time if at all, esp if you are
inexperienced when it comes to keeping natives.
2) I have seen some slides of Tris taken by Mike Young (amazing guy, one day
Ill tell all of you about his enthusiasm for N Australis, Twin Bridges
Variety) which would make your eyes pop out. You need sun glasses to view
these fish. These slides have not been tampered with at all. However, I
would assume that when pictures of fish are used in books that they are
altered during the printing phase. This may not always be deliberate. Im
sure that these pictures are enhanced to give the best quality picture and
to maintain detail. There is a brand of aquarium goods (dont know what it is
or what they sell) which has a bow or two on the cardboard backs. Now if
these havent been colour enhanced tell me why the red colouration goes
beyond the border of the fish.
I thank the G.P. (is that for Great Praecox?) for expressing the fact that
my statement was purely a descriptive vehicle. In future I will ensure that
my writings are more politically correct. Sorry for the confusion, at least
it provided for some discussion.
