Unfortunately, we humans are a violent and cruel species. I expect that a little investigation would reveal that we perpetrate far greater cruelties on ourselves than could be attributed to our treatment of animals -

Take a look at the Roman Empire and their "Games", The Spanish Inquisition, The Salem Witch Trials, The trenches of World War 1, the Concentration /labour camps of Europe and Asia in World War 2, Uganda, Kampuchea, Rwanda, Ethiopia, East Timor... need I g
o on.

I take the view that all creatures have the right to live (and Die) with dignity and compassion.

I have frequently used the "freezer" method to dispose of fish. I did find by accident that a bucket of water in my garage at room temperature (during a Canberra winter) despatches a typical rainbow in something like 5-10 seconds. Drop them into it and th
ey do a quick "loop" and that's it.
