<Have any of you had trouble with eggs not hatching even though the embryo is
<devloped? I get some that seem to over-develop and not hatch. Most of the time
<they are eggs that have had to travel for a great leingh of time.
To my opinion there may be three reasons for eggs not hatching under
circumstances Roy described:
1. Oxygen deficite. Fry also still in the egg shell do need oxygen and if they
get too less they will die within the egg already. There shoudl not only be
water for the eggs but also enough air, as if you would send fish.
2. Don't use a water ad in tanks where eggs are. EDTA takes away iones
eggs need to hatch from the shell, like zinc. Also methylen blue may
have negative effects.
3. Last but not least eggs transported with a plane may suffer under the
fast pressure differences - freight rooms as well as cabins are like
3000 m highth during the flight.
X-raying should not cause any problems, if you have thought about that
point.
