Mark,

I have forwarded your message to the Rainbowfish mailing list, so expect to get inundated with offers of assistance.

I also expect that you will be contacted by a member of ANGFA (yo... Dr Bruce) and possibly the NSW sub group of ANGFA. I will also send you the next issue of our (ANGFA ACT) newsletter in the next few days.

Pseudomugil signifer (Pacific Blueeye) is readily available - the local aquarium shop here always has reasonable quantities at prices arounf $8-10/pair. I believe they are the variety from around Cairns. No doubt some of the more knowledgeable member of t
he list can offer fish from other locations or leads on getting them.

Cheers,
Alan Salmon

Allan,

My name is Marc Noakes. I am currently studying the genetics of
silver perch in aquaculture for my BSc (Hons) at the University of Western
Sydney\ Macarthur. I was given your E-mail address by "Aquasonic", a
company that manufacturers aquarium equipment in Campbelltown (NSW). I am
writing to ask you for information regarding the aquisition of several
breeding pairs of Pacific Blue Eye (preferably from more temperate regions,
not tropical). I would like to carry out a small scale study regarding the
breeding behaviour and patterns of these fish using some simple inheritable
phenotypic traits. I understand that the behaviour and life cycle of the
species is somewhat unique. Could you send me some information about the
fish and direct me to someone that breeds this species or maybe someone who
could supply them?

Please contact me via Dr Paul Smith at the University of Western
Sydney\ Macarthur.
E-mail address is -- PT.Smith at uws.edu.au

Many Thanks
Marc Noakes

PS Could you also fill me in on ANGFA. I am an avid aquarist in my spare time.
Best wishes,

Paul T. Smith
