I doubt you would find any signifiicant levels of contaminants. If it
were me I would contact the old Board of Jerks (Melbourne Water) and try
to get onto someone who knows something about groundwater. They may be
able to tell you about the water quality of groundwater in your area and
will be able to advise you regarding getting it tested for basic ion
concentrations. You could also try tasting the water, that'll give you
some idea of salinity. Use your hardness test kit on it to, or if you
don't have one try and get up a lather with some soap. If it is hard
water you won't get as much of a lather as you will with the tap water.
