I'm not sure live plants are a good thing in your quarantine tank if you
need to add salt in appreciable amounts or other chemicals - they are nice
for the fish but if they die they add a lot of load to the organic load on
the filtration system and stress to your fish

deformities are obvious in many populations of this species now worldwide -
unfortunately quality control has not always been good and remember the
original genetic pool was only a handful of specimens
