This is odd. I have managed with about a dozen furcatus in a 20gall (80
l)Long and about the same for the connieae in a 20 gal (80 l) high. I am
able to produce 300 furcatus per month without too much difficulty. The
connieae are a different story, I keep loosing breeders, I really should
consider beefing up the population somewhat. I wonder if the differences
in the viability or productivity of the furcatus is related to the
"strain". Seeing how the fish in OZ are derived from a population that
proved to be hard to reproduce (lots of eggs but few hatched) I figure this
might be possible. I will be getting some from the same population and see
how much different they are from the ones that I am working with now.
Perhaps this is all that is different between OZ and the USA and why most
people in the USA have no problems with furcatus.
