Last weekend myself, Julie, Lowell the lurker, and his buddy Chris all
blipped up to attend the Bay Area Killifish Association West Coast
Weekend. It was all killies which made things pretty boring but the
speakers had nice pickies. Actually, the speakers were all pretty darn
good (I never fell asleep once) and there were some wonderful looking
fish in the show. There was the usual major auction Sunday including
some Aussie fish donated by Wim from Holland. Some of the rainbowfish pairs
fetched up to ~$40-50. The most impressive was the first pair of honey
blue eyes which went for $95, the second pair sold for the same. That's
around $$ per millimeter. :-) Relatively few bags of killies
went for under $10 (except the couple I bought because I am a tight arse
and they were only killies). All in all most folks had a great weekend
and they are looking forward to the San Fran AqSoc / RSG rainbowfish crap on
in September. Be there or be dipped in fecal material when you find
out what you missed out on. :-)
