I think it is fair to say that EVERY fish , not just praecox, or for that
matter any other Rainbowfish, deserves to be appreciated for "comparison"
purposes while looking it's best. If that takes soft, acid, tannin-stained
moving water and subdued lighting directed downwards and backwards onto
them so be it.

Some fish such as Pseudomugil cyanodorsalis are lovely even just flitting
around in a group but once you have seen a couple of males with fins flared
rapidly circling around each other , their whole lower bodies glowing
golden in the early morning sunlight you just get a whole new enthusiasm
for this little gem.
