Dear All

It is indeed regrettable that the list is shutting down as I - along with
many others I am sure - have found it very useful. Many thanks to those who
operated it!

I would like to take this opportunity, however, to plug another list and a
news journal on a (non-profit) website I run - it does not have exactly the
same scope as ACN-L but could be of interest to a number of you. The mailing
list is called OceanLaw and deals mainly with international fisheries policy
(it is new and will be going "active" in the next couple with news). The
news journal (which does actually require a small subscription fee) is
called Int-Fish Bulletin and deals with all living marine resources. The
website also contains a massive amount of primary materials on marine
resources (approximately 1000 pages of it!) and a links section with around
4000 links.

The website url is: www.oceanlaw.net

Hope some of you will find this website useful and many thanks again to the
ACN-L folks!

Chris Hedley

OceanLaw Mailing List: a discussion list open to anyone with an interest in
marine living resource law and management and related law of the sea issues

G'day folks

It is with some regret that I inform you that I no longer intend to keep
ACN-L
operational. I had been making some efforts behind the scenes to get ACN
back
up and semi-function with an online journal. These efforts failed as you
can't have a journal without authors. It seems as if everyone is very
pushed
for time (as I am too) and we were unable to pull things together. Given
this, and the trivial amount of discussion on this list I have decided to no
longer run the list and will be advising Gordon Dewis to shut ACN-L down at
the end of this month. I intend to continue to maintain online the archives
from this list and the back issues of Aquatic Survival. As with many
similar
organisations, ACN has always relied solely on volunteers. Some, such as
Rob
Huntley have given several years of their life. Unfortunately, we have run
out of active volunteers.
