What is your source for this?

My two cents worth:
Several years ago, I attended an SFAS (San Franscisco Aquarium Society) meeting
where the topic was using cyanide to collect salt water aquarium fish. The
speaker was NOT a FAMA writer (rabid or otherwise). The speaker (who's name
I can not remember) described in detail the use of cyanide to harvest aquarium
fishes, and projects to train people in other methods of fish collection.
There was also some discussion about conditions in fish wholesaler's
holding areas.

The whole talk was illustrated with pictures, including pictures of cyanide
preperation, and use in hunting aquarium fish. I'm not a salt water fish
expert, but I know that all the pictures and discussion featured fish common
in the aquarium trade. Furthermore, the discussion about fish wholesaler's
holding areas made it clear that the fish were not food fish!
