We received a brochure today from the Island Institute in Rockland,
Maine notifying us of an upcoming conference entitled _The Garden in
the Sea: Remote Sensing for Marine Resource Users, Managers &
Educators_.

Enquiries should be directed to them at (207) 594-9209 or by fax to
(207) 594-9314. Mailing address is Island Institute, 410 Main Street,
Rockland, ME USA 04841.

Here are some of the particulars. The conference is:

o on the practical applications of remote sensing technology in
marine resource use, management, and education;
o designed to engage the interests of commercial fisheries,
aquaculture, marine resource management, and environmental
educators;
o to be held on Thursday, May 16 at the Samoset Resort in Rockport,
Maine, with space for 150 people;
o co-sponsored by the Island Institute, the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration, the Maine Aquaculture Innovation Center,
and the Bigelow Laboratory for the Ocean Sciences;
o $15.00 USD (plus additional $15.00 for proceedings, if requested).

Sessions include:

- The Sea from Space: A Decade of Promise, Progress, and Problems
- Marine Resource Applications (in two parts)
- Marine Education Projects
