Hi,

I'm going to bore you with a few of my observations. I'm telling the
list because you folks understand. My wife just says, "That's nice,
Dear." ;-)

I was watching my M. affinis 'pagwi' spawn this morning. I can't
believe how intense the colors get during spawning. The red stripes on
the latter half of the fish look like they are electric lights. I love
watching the males flash.

My "big" tank (75 gallon planted tank) gets some morning sun shining
in the front of the tank. The rainbows are about 1000x more beautiful
than with overhead lighting. They are very metallic. All the fish even
the females shine like mirrors.

I have a group of of very nicely colored M. boesemani. The males are
bright orange-yellow on the back half and dusky blue on the front. The
females are the same dusky blue all over. One morning I was watching
the tank as the lights came on. All the boesemani were much darker
than normal: black and deep orange. As I watched they faded back to
their normal colors in a matter of seconds. Fun. And a very useful
survival mechanism I would guess.

Anyway, that's it. Thanks and
Hope you have a very nice day, :-)
