Ummmm, Little Yabba Creek is actually home to signifer, and not mellis. (At
least to the best of my husband's knowledge, and he lived in Gympie for 15
years - collecting native fishes). You could also catch M. duboulayi (as you
said), Retropina semoni (Australian smelt - if you catch these, add salt to
the water or they'll die of shock), Ambassis nigripinnis (olive perchlet),
Hypseleotris gallii (firetail gudgeon), Hypseleotris compressa (Empire
gudgeon) and Mogurnda adspersa (purple-spotted gudgeon. There are a few
other fish you may catch, but those are the common ones. Anything you aren't
sure of, I'm sure the guys at ANGFA QLD can identify it for you.
