John K isn't always right but he does make some interesting points from time to time. It should be noted in the interview below that Amquel doesn't contain Aloe. If that turns out to be the allergic product then look toward Amquel. Or perhaps Ultimate, especially if they have eliminated the pH lowering effect that Julie says she sees in low buffering capacity water. SF water is also fairly soft. I would hope that "cranberry" has purchased a hardness test kit that measures both GH and buffering, KH. Tetra makes a good kit that also has the "salicate" based ammonia test kit, which is the only type that you can use to measure ammonia removal with a product like Amquel. I wish he would have said something about Ultimate in that interview.

John Farrell Kuhns is your man. In interesting
interview is at:

If you Google for "John Farrell Kuhns" you will get a
lot of hits, where he has been mentioned on-line.
Googling "John Farrell Kuhns" Ultimate will garner a
couple of comments by Kuhns on that product.

Thank you for the mention of Ultimate, Gary.

All the best!
Scott
