I don't know myself about the area around Popondetta but many of the rivers and creeks in the Western portion of the island have little or no plants in them. Although there were some that had some plants, for the most part the streams had nothing. So it may not be a reasonable thing to do. Also P. connieae is more difficult to keep and really requires feedings of live foods to keep in reproductive shape. I would recommend using P. furcata instead as it is readily available (with a little effort) and should be much easier for someone just getting started in the hobby. Most of the furcatus I've seen are also prettier than the connieae that have been around. I think though that the biotope type tank is really overrated. Keep the fish you enjoy that can get along together. Just remember to feed any fry that come out of a mixed rainbowfish tank.

Hello Gunther,

There is a report on T.ocellicauda on the ANGFA web site
http://www.angfa.org.au that lists the species found in the same area from
the limited information available from collectors.

There is a photo of a creek in one of the German Magazines that indicates
that Ottelia alismoides is in the creeks where T. ocellicauda live.

I would also like to know what other water plants live in the area inhabited
by T. ocellicauda.
