We nicknamed Derek the 'Hibiscus kid" and his main unachieved goal on that
trip was to hear the dawn chorus of the Australian bush birds - mainly
because he never got up early enough ;-)
If I remember correctly he did suffer a couple of major "scares" - one from
the Weipa women and one from a high speed departure from what passes as a
road up on Cape York. You'll have to ask him which was the most scary ;-)

That's why ANGFA has put so many resources into our publications -
especially the posters (have you seen the one on pseudomugils ?) and our
journal "Fishes of Sahul"
A web page for Blue-eyes would be great but getting good shots of all the
species is going to be difficult - if you wish to use the images from our
poster
then please direct a request to the ANGFA national committe through me. We
usually approve non-profit promotional requests but we have to protect the
inerests of our generous photographers.
