I wish more judges were like Cary and were prepared to offer individual
critiques of entries. Here in oz
( perhaps I shouild say here in Brisbane) we use the FBAS ( Federation of
British Aquarium Societies) points system with minor local changes and each
entry has a written appraisal for the benefit of the exhibitor - under such
headings as size, characteristics, colour , condition and deportment etc as
accepted for the standard for that species and the wild type is the
original standars for that species. If there are aquarium strains of that
species in the hobby e.g. fancy guppeis, swordtails, veiltail angels then a
separate standard is drawn up.

The good old days when the judge walked down the line of tanks and selected
the one that happened to be displaying at the time before he went off to
the bar for a beer with the stewards is sadly over ;-)
