So this still leaves the question of what is driving the charge
separation. The bottle itself is probably a pretty good insulator
polyethylene is about as nonconductive a substance as one would hope
for.) I can't believe that the static charge has been present since the
product was bottled, so there must be some event that builds up separated
charge and puts the human and the contents of the bottle at different
potentials.
