Hey Conway,

As the others have said, the fry of M. praecox will do fine in with the
parents if the parents are well fed. Floating plants in the main tank also
help as they give the fry cover and provide food (micro-organisms that grow
in/around the plants that the fry can hunt). If you really want to raise a
whole bunch of fry then a few mops into the main tank are best, and then
check them about weekly. If full of eggs then transfer the mops into a 10
gallon tank to hatch and raise there. A slowly-bubbling sponge, bare bottom,
and a few small snails will do the trick nicely. Also a lid to keep the
surface from "skinning" up (and the older fry from jumping out later on). If
your water is not already hard and alkaline, add a small handful (tsp to Tbs
full) of crushed coral or shell to buffer and add minerals.

Honestly, you will most likely get all the babies you need, without any
extra work on your part, just from that main tank. Just be sure to keep the
parents well-fed, and provide a bit of fine food for the fry and watch them
grow! :-)
