I have bred boesemani in 10gal but more succesfully in 20 gal (24inch)
tank. They should spawn everyday. I left mine in for a week then removed
the pair and the eggs started hatching a few days later. I also fed them
Tetra "E" about 4-5 times a day, then gradually (after a couple weeks)
switched to hatching brine nauplii and feeding them instead of Tetra.
After about 4 months I transferred almost 200 fry from the 20 gal to a 55
gal grow out tank. About 2 months later about 50 died because of
malformed fins. It has now been about 17 months since they hatched and I
have begun selling them to the local fish store.
It seems that 17 months is a long time for them to grow to a saleable size
of about 1-2 inches. I change the water on average every 10 days and feed
them a great deal. Do you have any experience on how long it takes to
grow?
