I know several aquaculture farmers who are putting petrol or deisel powered
generators in place sufficient to cope with the equipment for their entire
stock load (up until now they have been short term/emergency capacity only)
in preparation for possible outs in power supply. I am sure that smaller
versions of these are available- particularly with Y2K bearing down on us.
It may be worth doing a web search. I am told that there are many companies
on the net selling "survival supplies" for exactly this purpose.
