I've often wondered about fish and children. I now have a 16year old and a
12 year old. The older one only is just aware that there are a couple of
fish tanks around (and we have over 70). The younger one has been interested
in the fish for several years. He knows all the scientific names of the fish
frequently correcting me, collects eggs off the mops which he can now sees
much better than me. He has been interested in their embryology for several
years. It is difficult to know why children in the same family are so
different. Mind you if there were fish built in the shape of a guitar that
produced some sort of sound maybe my older son might be interested!
Speaking about animals:-We have a dog that doesn't drink out of bowls of
water given to her for that purpose but uses the nearest fish pond. However
there is one pond that she avoids. It is the one that contained a tandanus.
I recall seeing her going to drink from it at one stage and the tandanus
jumped through the water. She has never gone back to that pond. Maybe my
older son had a similar experience.
