I had a group of adults breeding, 6 half grown young and some fry at the end of last summer, then when Julie
moved she brought over another group of adults. I sent out my 6 young. Then the adults started dropping off
one after another, mostly females. When it was all done I had 1 adult female and 4 males. They are breeding
still though and I do get eggs every week.
I also have a few partially grown young and a number of fry. I haven't had any trouble hatching the mops I've
gotten this spring. I've sent out a few mops but they either didn't hatch or the fry died.
Right now about all the mops I can get in the near future have been spoken for but I should have more to send
out in a couple of months.
As to the color questions. I've found that the tank I have the fish in and the age of the fish greatly affect
their color. In a bright planted tank they are more gold/green with a slight touch of orange lateral stripes
and green fins. In a dark tank they are dark turquoise green with black finage. I've also found that they tend
to be more golden/green when they are younger and more dark when they are older.
