I have heard of a lake in western Queensland that supports a growth of
Ruppia that is relished by waterfowl and it is hundreds of miles from the
sea - and I would guess that the TDS is high and not all from NaCl. there
is another lake nearby that is totally freshwater and not nearly as popular
with the birds.I guess the birds provide the fertilisation at least to some
extent
