Adrian, thanks for the detailed information on the wanamensis. That sort of
information is invaluable but often doesn't get recorded. Maybe Harro could
comment if he knows for sure if Heiko collected his own wanamensis. Ours came
from Europe a long time ago. Looking at your web page and looking at the photo
in Allen & Cross (Schmida's fine photo) I would say that they do look the same,
Schmida's fish is much younger though. I think that some of the fish that we
have here do look like those photos.

As for Phil Benes comments on Wanamensis from Wet Thumb Aquatics - Unless you
can find out who she got them from I would consider them suspect. Delores
doesn't keep very good track of that stuff and frankly she really doesn't care
that much. If some stock that has been kept in the RSG becomes available I'd
jump on it if you want the real thing.

We are going to see this sort of crisis happen over and over again.
Incompetents putting tilapia all over the world to feed a population that can't
realistic be supported by band-aid fixes. Habitat losses/species losses will
continue unless we find a realistic way to curb the human populations
everywhere. It just makes it all the more important to try and keep a few of
these species going. The lake wanam bow is a wonderful fish and it is a shame
that the lake has been lost. Hopefully we can keep it going in the zoos and
our tanks.
