Gerald Allen, Walter Ivantsoff, Margaret Shepard and Samuel Renyaan described a new Pseudomugil from
the Timika-Tembagapura region in Irian Jaya, P. pellucidus. The new species is related to P.
novaeguineae, but differs in the number and length of first dorsal fin rays, number of anal rays and some
other internal morphological features. The new species is also different in colouration and also quite
transparent.
aqua 3 (1): 1-8

In the same no. of Aqua a new genus and four new species of plotosid catfish from Australia have been
described by Gerry Allen and M. N. Feinberg.

aqua 2(4) contains and interesting article with details on Pseudomugil reticulatus which formerly has only
be known from a single specimen. It superficially looks like Scaturiginichthys vermeilipinnis, the most
striking difference is the elongated first dorsal fin rays of the male. Females show many more differences
in colouration.
