Cyanodorsalis are found more frequently in the wild in pure salt water
habitats rather than brackish conditions. However, they can be successfully
kept in pure freshwater and will grow and spawn quite well. They will
however live longer and spawn more freely in brackish or pure salt water.
I believe that they probably spawn in the mangrove areas where the fry hatch
and survive on a marine planktonic source that frequent the mangrove forests
thus as they grow the young move into the tidal areas of streams. As they
grow larger they probably move out into pure marine waters.
