[RML] Rainbows and plants in hard water

I had the idea of a planted tank in hard (~250 ppm, pH ~8.2) water with
rainbows. This tank would have a homemade CO2 injector but no heated
substrate, and would be 55 gallons.

Does anyone have any suggestions for plants/fish in this setup? I was
considering I. werneri, but I can't find my Allen book to tell me if this
fish does OK in this water.
