I would appreciate some more details on the Neons in Ban Ban Springs if you wouldn't mind. They are just about the last thing that I would have thought of as a possible problem there. Were there many caught; were there any juveniles suggesting breeding; w
ere there other exotics (not including guppies, platys, mollies, swordtails etc which are getting to be everywhere) such as tetras or barbs perhaps suggesting a recent "liberation" of someone's community tank etc etc
Frankly if you had caught them in the peaty swampsm in some wallum stream area I would be more worried about their potential to become established as I understand they need that sort of habitat for egg hatching. However I do share your concern for the irr
esponsibility indicated by their presence there. and also for the potential for introduction of pathogens from exotic sources into our native waterways and the risks to our fishes and---other aquatic animals.
