The problem with that around here is that we don't have the luxury of access
to wild stock or their near descendants - I think that Dr. Bruce said that
only 5 came into the country. This is on par with previous importations of
New Guinean/Irian Jayan Rainbowfish - they have been brought in "under a
cloud" so the gene pool is extremely limited. Some have suggested that this
is why some PNG/IJ Rainbow species have problems - ulcers, spinal
deformities, lack of colour and vigour, aggression. Other people say that
these are attributable to keeping conditions. Me, I don't know for sure but
I wish I did!
