Ive never had much to do with any RAINBOWS outside of SAHUL.
but Im now looking forward to getting some Madagascan and Celebes bows.
Although Celebes just look like Pseudomugil to me?? (of which I have a few
varieties)
and I agree that Madagascan RAINBOWFISH look more like Melanotaeniidae than
the Psuedomugils.

Personally I think Bedotiidae are much closer to Melanotaeniidae than
Pseudomugilidae to both of them.

This is a question! Most say no. However, it depends how generous your
interpretation of rainbowfish may be. Let's say: no, they are Bedotiidae.
That's my opinion. However, there shall have been crosses between Bedotia
and Melanotaenia!
